For years, the Nature Valley Protein Bar has been a delicious bar to grab and go when I’m in a hurry or anticipate being somewhere for a while and may not be able to have a meal. It’s a protein bar that doesn’t taste like it’s healthy. The chocolate underpinning with chocolate chips intermingled with peanuts on top make this near decadent. I think one of the reasons it taste so good is due to the sugar content. (11% of DV) While this isn’t as high as the Cliff Mini Energy Bar I enjoy before a workout, It still may spike my bg level higher than I want. Or at least, I thought this way before I tried it. Let’s take a look.
The Nature Valley Protein bar contains 6g of dietary fiber! |

I am still able to enjoy one of my favorite pre-diabetic treats without spiking my blood glucose! While the sugar content of this bar is 3X the content of the Pure Protein bars, I believe the 6g of dietary fiber offsets it. These are just my results, I invite you comment and let me know what you think. Google users can follow this blog as well.
